Captured Motion lets you bring different camera brands together on your Mac. This guide shows where live view, alerts, and retained local recording are available, so you can choose the setup that fits your cameras and expectations.

If a brand is marked live-view only, it can still appear in Captured Motion, trigger alerts, and stay useful every day. The only limitation is that Captured Motion will not keep an ongoing retained clip history for that connection type on your Mac.

How to use this guide

Yes means this connection can keep retained clips locally on your Mac.
Limited means support depends on the exact camera model or how it is connected.
No means Captured Motion keeps that connection as live view and alerts only.

Apple Home note: Apple Home cameras work well for live view and alerts in Captured Motion, but stored Home recordings continue to live in Apple Home. Captured Motion keeps that experience clear by sending customers back to Apple Home for those recordings instead of trying to pull them into the app.

Want retained clips on brands like Aqara or Eufy? If the camera officially offers a local connection such as RTSP, ONVIF, or NAS support, adding it through that local route can unlock retained recording on your Mac.
