Connect any ONVIF camera
In the app, choose ONVIF (Generic) on the first setup screen.
ONVIF is the industry standard most wired cameras speak — Axis, Hanwha, Uniview, Foscam, Vivotek and many unbranded cameras. The app discovers the stream and motion through it.
Before you connect
- In the camera’s web page find the ONVIF setting (often Network → Advanced, Integration Protocol, Access Platform, or Protocol) and enable it.
- If the camera keeps a separate ONVIF user list, add a user with Media or Operator rights. Use the admin account only if the camera has no separate list.
- Set the camera’s clock (NTP). ONVIF rejects sign-ins from a camera whose time is far out.
- In Captured Motion pick ONVIF (Generic), enter the address, username and password, and connect. The app finds the stream itself.
What the app asks for
| Host | The camera’s LAN IP address. Ports 80 (ONVIF) and 554 (RTSP) are the defaults. |
|---|---|
| Username / password | The ONVIF user. |
If it does not connect
| Nothing found at that address | ONVIF is off, or on a non-standard port. Check the camera’s web page. |
|---|---|
| Found, but no stream | The ONVIF user lacks media rights, or the camera only offers RTSP — try Generic RTSP with the address from the camera’s manual. |
