Connect a Reolink camera or NVR
In the app, choose Reolink on the first setup screen.
Captured Motion talks to Reolink cameras and NVRs directly over your network. It needs the camera’s address and a local account. Doorbells report the button press and pan-and-tilt models can be moved from the app.
Before you connect
- Find the camera’s IP address: Reolink app → the camera → Settings → Network Information. Reserve it on your router so it does not change.
- Make sure the streaming ports are on: Settings → Network → Advanced → Server Settings (or Port Settings). Enable RTSP, and ONVIF if offered. Some models ship with both off; battery cameras have no port settings at all.
- Use a local account. The admin you set when the camera was first installed works; a separate user with admin rights is better.
- In Captured Motion pick Reolink, enter the address, username and password, and connect. For an NVR, enter the NVR’s address and every attached camera is listed.
What the app asks for
| Host | Camera or NVR LAN IP address. |
|---|---|
| Username / password | A local admin account on the camera, not your Reolink cloud login. |
Stream address, if you need it
Only for the Generic RTSP route. The normal setup finds this itself.
rtsp://user:pass@CAMERA-IP:554/h264Preview_01_main (sub-stream: h264Preview_01_sub)
If it does not connect
| Connects but no picture | RTSP is off. Enable it under Network → Advanced → Server Settings and save. |
|---|---|
| Battery camera stops after a few minutes | Normal: battery models stream for five minutes at a time to save power. |
| E1 / Lumus | These models do not offer RTSP or ONVIF and cannot be used. |
