Connect a Dahua-family camera
In the app, choose ONVIF (Generic) on the first setup screen.
Dahua makes the firmware behind Amcrest, most Lorex and Imou cameras. ONVIF is there but, on recent firmware, uses its own user list.
Before you connect
- Open the camera’s IP address in a browser and sign in as admin.
- Newer firmware: Setting → Network → Access Platform → ONVIF. Older firmware: Setup → Network → Connection → ONVIF. Enable it and save.
- Add an ONVIF user: Setting → System → Account → ONVIF User (Amcrest: Maintain → Account → ONVIF User). Give it a name and password.
- Enable NTP under System → General → Date & Time so the camera’s clock is right.
- In Captured Motion pick ONVIF (Generic), enter the address and that ONVIF username and password, and connect.
What the app asks for
| Host | The camera’s LAN IP address. |
|---|---|
| Username / password | The ONVIF user, not the web admin. |
Stream address, if you need it
Only for the Generic RTSP route. The normal setup finds this itself.
rtsp://user:pass@CAMERA-IP:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0 (sub-stream: subtype=1)
If it does not connect
| Web password rejected | Expected on newer firmware. Create the ONVIF user and use it. |
|---|---|
| Lorex camera with no password yet | Newer Lorex cameras must be initialised in a browser first; set the admin password there. |
