Camera setup guides

What to switch on at the camera before Captured Motion can connect, brand by brand.
Almost every connection problem is one setting at the camera end: a stream that is off, a login that is the cloud account instead of a local one, or an ONVIF user that was never created. Pick your camera and follow the steps; each guide links the vendor’s own article where there is one. Not sure what your camera can do? See the compatibility table.
UniFi ProtectSign in with a dedicated local UniFi user. An API key is optional and only the console owner can make one. ReolinkUse a local admin account and the camera’s LAN address. Many models ship with RTSP switched off. TP-Link TapoCreate a Camera Account in the Tapo app. It is separate from your TP-Link login. Hikvision, Annke, HiLook, EzvizEnable ONVIF in the camera’s web page and add an ONVIF user. The web login alone is not enough. Dahua, Amcrest, Lorex, ImouSwitch on ONVIF and add an ONVIF user. On most of these cameras the web login does not work for ONVIF. eufyTurn on the camera’s own RTSP stream in the eufy Security app. Battery cameras and most doorbells do not offer it. AqaraApple Home is the easiest route. For clips on your Mac, switch on RTSP in the Aqara Home app and copy the address it shows. Any ONVIF cameraEnable ONVIF on the camera, create an ONVIF user with media access, and enter the camera’s address. Any IP camera (RTSP)If you can give the app a stream address, it works. Here are the addresses the common makes use. Frigate NVREnter Frigate’s address and a viewer login. Enable go2rtc restreams for live video. RingSign in with your Ring account. Keep your phone handy for the two-factor code. ArloCreate a dedicated Arlo user for the app, then sign in with it. Apple Home (HomeKit)Any camera already in the Home app works. Grant Captured Motion HomeKit access when macOS asks.
